and Mary College, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. She is co-author

Ashok Acharya is lecturer in the Department of Political
Science. He is working on the project "Theorising
Inequality: The Indian Experience".
Ashok Majumdar Ph. D. (DU), Reader in Political Science,
Zakir Hussain College (Eve) is author of Peasant protest
in India (1991). He was the Convenor of the 1996 Grassroots
Politics Colloquium on Agrarian Politics and Policy Changes
in the Third World. He is currently engaged in editing a volume
out of it. His research project is on the same theme.
Ashish Ghosh, Reader in Political Science, Dayal Singh
College (Eve) has been the convener of Grassroots Politics
Colloquium since its inception in 1998. Together with Prof
Neera Chandhoke he edited Grassroots Movements and
Social Change (1995) and Dalits and Peasants:
the Emerging Caste-Class Dynamics (1998), on behalf
of DCRC. He submitted his Ph.D. Thesis on Culture and Nationalism
in Bangal in 1996 to Delhi University. Active in directing
children's theatre in the capital his current research project
is entitled 'Sociology of Theatre as Agency of Change'.
G.N.Trivedi, Ph. D. (DU) is Reader in Political Science,
Motilal Nehru College (Eve.). His interest areas are political
development in South Asia, comparative political analysis,
social movements and peasant studies.
Gopal N. Guru, Professor in the Department of Political
Science, University of Delhi. Author of Ambedkar's Concept
of Political Power' (1997), 'Dalit Cultural Movements in Moharastra'
(1997). His research enterest one critical Social/Political
Theory: Humiliation, Discrimination, Atrocities, Guilt, Shame,
Recognition, Justice, Equality and Freedom.
Guljit Kumar Arora Ph.D (JNU) is a Senior Lecturer in
Economics at Zakir Husain College. He has published a number
of research papers on economic aspects of federalism and fiscal
reforms in India and China. He is a member of the Documentation
Committee of the DCRC looking after the data base building.
K.K.Panda, Ph.D is working on a Research Project "Culture
of Peace". He is the author of the books, New Perspectives
in India's Foreign Policy, New Delhi, 1980; Contemporary
Socialism-An Analysis, ed., New Delhi, 1992; Market,
Democracy and Developing Polity (under publication, New Delhi).
M.N. Thakur, Ph. D. (DU) is Reader in Political Science,
Zakir Husain College. His current research projects are- Contemporary
Religious Resurgence: India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka,
Nepal; Homeless and the Labour Process.
Malathi Subramanian is Principal, Daulat Ram
College. She is working on a project "Gender and Human
Rights".
Madhulika Banerjee Ph.D. (DU) is a Senior Lecturer
in Political Science at Gargi College. She is working on the
project "Politics of Indigenous Medicines". She
is the author of Justice, Equality and Community,
Sage, New Delhi, 2000.
Meenakshi Thapan is Professor in the Department of
Sociology. She is carrying out a project on "Pedagogy
and the Future Citizen". She is the convenor of the
conference on "Women & Migration in Asia".
P.K.Mishra, Ph.D. (JNU) is Reader in Political Science
RLA college. He is the author of South Asia in International
Politics (1986) and South Asia:
Conflicts and Cooperation (1997) among others. His
current research project is on 'East Asia and South Asia in
the Emerging world Order.
Rekha Kaul, Ph. D. (DU) is a Reader in Political Science
at Laxmibai College. She is the author of Caste, Class
and Education: The Politics of the Capitation Fee Phenomenon (1993). Together with Prof. Suresh C. Shukla she has
edited Development, Underdevelopment and Education in the
Third World on behalf of DCRC, which is in press. Her current
research project is "Power, Culture and Education: A
study of Mass Education in Developing Countries"
Rupak Duttagupta, Ph.D. (DU) is a reader in the Department
of Political Science, Kirori Mal College. He is involved in
the project "Globalization and the State in Third World"
Sadhna Saxena is associated with Central Institute
of Education, Delhi. She is working on a project "Alternative
Pedagogy".
Sadhna Arya, Ph.D (DU) is Reader in Political Science
of Satyawati Co-education College. She is the author of the
book, Women, Gender Equality and the State, Deep and Deep Publications. She is working on the project "National Commission on Women: Goals and Performance
in the South Asian Perspective".
S.K. Aggarwal is Professor in the Department of Geography.
He is working on the project "Natural Resource Management
in underdeveloped regions".
Suranjita Ray, Ph.D (DU) is a lecturer in Daulat Ram
College. She is working on the project "Gender

Vidhu Varma, Ph.D. (DU) is a Senior Lecturer in Political

and Citizenship. She is currently attached to the Institute

R.Vashum, Ph.D. (DU) is a Social Anthropologist. His
interest areas are among others social structure and social
change, social movements, human rights and methodology in
